Carolyn Crews

Senior Conservation Technician, Rare Books, ECS – Browns Summit, NC

Carolyn joined ECS in 2006 where she was trained by ECS senior conservators and Don Etherington in the art of rare book conservation.  Her main focus and interest is in the conservation of historic fine leather bindings. Carolyn has an exceptional eye for color and enjoys applying her hand skills to meet the challenges of rare book conservation.

Before her career change, Carolyn was and still is a Certified Picture Framer. Her framing career began in 1979 and she has won numerous awards in framing competitions as well as participated as a judge. Carolyn is well educated in conservation matting and framing techniques. Carolyn served on the local board of the Professional Picture Framers Association. She enjoys reading and art.
