Director of Conservation / Head Paper and Photograph Conservator
Michael has specialized in photographic conservation and in the conservation of works of art on paper since 1984. He received a Master’s degree and Certificate of Advanced Study in Conservation from the State University College at Buffalo (formerly the Cooperstown Graduate Program). Advanced studies in paper and photographic conservation were conducted at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London, England and the Northeast Document Conservation Center, Andover, MA, with support from the Andrew W. Mellon foundation. His broad experience in the treatment of mural photographs, large format art work and vellum documents provide the specialized service desired by ECS clients.
He has presented lectures to professional forums and public audiences on photographic material identification, preservation of family collections and case studies of conservation treatments of photographs and works of fine art. He is a Fellow of the American Institute for Conservation (AIC), a member of the AIC-Book and Paper Group and the AIC-Photographic Material Group.
